Back to Center

Sometimes life gets a little crazy.  From work, to school, to relationships, we all experience pain points that can add stress to our lives  (sometimes at the worst times).  This is why for us, it's necessary to have something to bring us back to center.  For some people this can be yoga or meditation or exercise, but of course for us it's tea.

When life get's a bit nutty, undoubtably the best decision I can make is to grab my gaiwan and a tea with a hearty qi, sit down in my space and brew.  I find that when things are hectic, it's best to do this alone and with no concrete goals in mind.  It's not important to focus in on anything specific, but rather have some much needed time alone with my thoughts.  The only thing I truly focus on is moving with intention as I pour water, decant tea, and sip slowly.  Eventually thoughts begin to arise, and with a clear mind I am more able to evaluate what's truly troubling me.

When this happens, I'm able to approach what's bothering me with a different attitude than I would without tea in me.  I'm less flustered and more relaxed, more calmed and rational when I settle down and drink tea and this allows me to be more mindful as I approach life obstacles.

Somehow though, whether it be the l-theanine-caffeine combo, the time alone with my thoughts, or simply the soothing liquor coating my tastebuds, taking some time to center myself around a good tea is usually just the right medicine for when I'm feeling down.
